Phone calls from Edmonton
Has anyone received a call from Edmonton doing a survey about pro hockey in OKC? Lot's of questions on preferences especially the name of the new club. They said a lot wanted OKC Blazers, but they had other suggestions such as OKC Oilers and OKC Oil Cats. I said no to anything with "Oilers" in it because of the association with Tulsa and the CHL. Looks like it might just happen.

I haven't gotten any phone calls, but it's time for a new name for our hockey team.

Ditching the Blazers name would be the most colossal mistake this organization has ever made. _________________ Inf*ckingcredible.

I hope we get a NEW name. Why call them the Blazers. The Blazer days are over. Since we lost the Blazers let it go. Hopefully we will get a new name and all new players ALL NEW FACES (no Sauter)!!! But with a Funk involved is that possible? But I also agree no Oiler name... _________________ Things are looking up!!!!

what he said! |
They are not the Blazers... Why call them that? Why not be happy with a new team, new name, new everything. What is wrong with moving on to bigger and better things? We no longer have a BLAZER team........... _________________ Things are looking up!!!!

I just got off the phone with the caller. I said the same thing about the Oiler name and anything associated with it. I'm still in favor of the Blazer name too...it's what's recognized around the city, around the state, and even around the country. And remember the Blazer name existed prior to the most recent version of the team. It has stood for quality minor league hoceky for years (maybe not as much as we would've liked recently) but it outside of those who always have to look at the negatives about the team (paging Doc) most people think of good hockey when they think of the Blazers. I remember when I was moving here (swearing that I would never be a Blazer fan), an Ice player told me that there was no way I could come here and watch team like the Blazers and not become a fan. That's respect for the team and organization from an opposing player. People know the Blazers and most don't think bad things when they hear the name (yes, I know there are some on here that too..I'm not asking for a roll call of negative comments about the Blazers...LOL). _________________ Never let someone be a priority in your life while you're still an option in theirs.

Did they identify themselves from Prodigal Hockey or from Edmonton?

They are actually a marketing company out of Edmonton. They are not directly affiliated with the Oilers but a company hired to do a marketing research to gauge interest in professional hockey in Oklahoma City. I gave them a emphatic thumbs up to bringing professional hockey to OKC. _________________ Never let someone be a priority in your life while you're still an option in theirs.

Listen, call them whatever you like--it makes no difference to me. BTW--I never hated the Blazers--that was just some of my personna on here to make my Seinfeld like character more likely to become Oscar worthy. Like when George pretended to be a marine biologist. I can't do it anymore---it was exhausting. I've got my multiple Oscar nominations and my Oscar. Besides I can't hurt Ellis anymore and deal with the guilt. I'm there. Life is good and the Thunder are 21-16 heading into tomorrow night against the Spurs.
I will say this though--I thought it extremely arrogant of Lund not to have Ice Girls. That part was sincere and I'll never forgive that selfish little bastard Lund for that one. If I ever see him downtown and walk by him--I might jist spit on him. But I never hated the Blazers.
Yeah--whatever...call them the Blazers. _________________ Clarise...can you hear the Sunshine Bloggers?
